First Haitian cardinal celebrates Mass in Miami
The first Haitian cardinal celebrated a Mass Sunday morning in Miami’s Little Haiti.
Cardinal Chibly Langlois visited Notre Dame d’Haiti Catholic Church, which was filled to capacity. Some congregants wore T-shirts that thanked God for giving Haitian Catholics their first cardinal.
Langlois, the youngest cardinal named by Pope Francis, was installed in February at the Vatican.
Langlois, who leads the Diocese of Les Cayes in Haiti, thanked the worshipers for their prayers and asked for unity among Haitians in Haiti and abroad. South Florida has the largest Haitian community in the United States.
