Police: Man steals car with baby inside in Southwest Miami-Dade, leaves bicycle
A 1-year-old boy was reunited with his family after someone stole the car he was sitting in while his mother ran into a Southwest Miami-Dade home Monday night, police said.
According to police, the mother stopped at 26980 SW 143rd Pl. to visit a friend just before 8 p.m.
When she headed back to the car it wasn't there. Instead there was a bicycle.
She immediately called the police and a “be on the lookout,” order was issued. At about 8:40 p.m. the car — with the unharmed baby inside — was found abandoned at 140th Avenue and Southwest 272nd Street.
The man had not been located as of Monday night.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
