Police investigating officer involved shooting in Northeast Miami-Dade

A Miami-Dade detective shot and wounded a 21-year-old man Tuesday night after he fired at officers investigating an earlier shooting, police said early Wednesday.

The incident happened before 10 p.m. at Northeast 132nd Street and Seventh Avenue.

No officers were injured and the man was taken to a Aventura Hospital.

Officers were trying to make contact with someone about an earlier shooting Tuesday night when a man fired first at officers, police said. A detective returned fire and struck him.

Police recovered a gun from the scene.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the police-involved shooting.
