3 injured in late-night street takeover. Deputies hunt for 2 hit-and-run drivers
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies are still on the hunt for two hit-and-run drivers who injured three people five days ago during a street takeover near Doral. Drivers at these events perform donuts, burnouts and other illegal maneuvers in intersections.
Around 3:40 a.m. Sunday, the takeover was on in the intersection of Northwest 25th Street and 76th Avenue, deputies said. During the illegal event, a black sedan hit two women in the road.
It’s unclear if the women were spectators and what the sedan was doing when the crash happened.
One of the women remained in the roadway as the black car “maneuvered” around her before speeding away. A man quickly ran toward her, but then was also hit by an older model gold Ford Expedition with a dark gray lower body, authorities said.
The driver of the Ford then ran over the woman and sped away.
“Neither of these drivers stopped to render aid to any of the three victims,” deputies wrote.
The unidentified trio were taken to a hospital by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue in unknown conditions.
Detectives say the Ford has front-end damage.
