Weather alert: FanFest in downtown Miami has been canceled ahead of US match

Rain has shut down FanFest in downtown Miami as the U.S. soccer team prepares to play Belgium in Seattle on Monday night.

“Unfortunately the final day of the mist epic party Miami has ever seen has been rained out,” event organizers posted on social media.

Miami police confirmed that no one will be admitted Monday evening to the Bayfront park location.

Authorities shut down FanFest on Friday after a nearby lightning strike forced organizers to evacuate the venue for about 90 minutes.

Organizers say details will be released on future watch parties across South Florida as the World Cup continues. England plays Norway at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens on Saturday.
