Those heading south out of Northwest Miami-Dade on Friday afternoon should cross Florida’s Turnpike off their list of route choices.

As firefighters continue to battle the brush fire that’s been burning since Sunday, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and Florida Highway Patrol announced southbound turnpike lanes will be closed from U.S. 27, also known as Okeechobee Road, down to Northwest 41st Street in Doral. The northbound lanes remain open.
