Secret Service agent is accused of masturbating in hotel hallway near MIA

A naked and masturbating U.S. Secret Service officer at a DoubleTree hotel in Miami-Dade was jailed on Monday for indecent exposure, according to authorities.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, John Spillman, 33, was seen naked in a hallway of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Miami Airport & Convention Center located at 711 NW 72nd Ave. by security. Deputies found Spillman masturbating at the end of the hallway, according to his arrest affidavit.

Spillman was taken into custody.

A woman then stepped out of her room and told deputies that she had been in the hotel lobby and that Spillman followed her upstairs.

“The victim advised they immediately entered their room because she was in fear for their lives,” detectives wrote in Spillman’s arrest affidavit. The woman also said she had seen Spillman masturbating next to her room.

The U.S. Secret Service has placed Spillman on administrative leave, the agency said in a statement to the Miami Herald.

“The alleged conduct is unacceptable and stands in stark contrast to the professionalism and integrity that I demand of our personnel. This agency takes these matters with the utmost seriousness; consequently, the individual has been placed on administrative leave pending the results of this criminal matter and a complete and thorough internal investigation,” chief of the Secret Service Uniformed Division Police, Richard Macauley, said in the statement.

Spillman is based in Washington, D.C., but was in the Miami area as part of a detail that provided exterior security for President Donald Trump during a PGA golf tournament at Trump National Doral, according to the agency. Spillman was off-duty at the time because the event had ended the day before his arrest.

Jail records show Spillman was charged with misdemeanor indecent exposure and remains jailed at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $1,000 bond.
