Megan Thee Stallion’s suit against blogger isn’t over — and just hit a snag
Megan Thee Stallion’s 2025 ended on a high note. The rapper born Megan Pete won her defamation trial in a downtown Miami courtroom against blogger Milagro Cooper in November.
Recap: Pete had sued the influencer, aka @milagrogramz, the previous year, claiming the Atlanta woman had been harassing her since her ex (incarcerated singer Tory Lanez) shot her in the feet in July 2020.
Filed in Miami federal court, the suit alleged the defendant went so far as to create a “doctored, artificially created [AI] video of Ms. Pete purportedly engaged in sexual acts” without the star’s knowledge or consent.
“Though I know it was not me,” the Houston native tearfully told the court of the deepfake porn clip. “I felt defeated because the harm had been done.”
U.S. District Court Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga agreed that Cooper was liable, and eventually awarded the “Hot Girl Summer” singer $59,000 in damages for emotional distress and harm to her reputation.
But after that victory comes some not-so-hot news. Pete failed to quiet her arch enemy for good with a permanent injunction. According to court documents, a federal judge denied the star’s request on Monday.
Pete had claimed that despite winning the case, Cooper continued to stay in her orbit, attending her shows and writing about her. The Popeyes chicken franchise owner who now calls South Florida home just wanted it all to stop.
But Judge Altonaga found no evidence of cyberstalking and called the attempt to silence Cooper “overboard,” saying her blog served “a legitimate purpose” as a source of news and commentary, even if the victim finds the communication “disturbing.”
Further, the 21-page filing says the plaintiff must prove the defendant acted “willfully, maliciously, and repeatedly” flouting Florida law, but that criteria was not met. The judge did not also think that Cooper’s actions would cause “irreparable injury,” as Pete claimed.
The Grammy winner, who was recently hospitalized for “exhaustion” midway through a performance in “Moulin Rouge!” on Broadway, has not commented on the legal matter. But physically, she’s been going through it, she told her fans, aka “Hotties,” after the incident.
“I’ve been pushing myself past my limits lately, running on empty, and my body finally said enough,” Megan Thee Stallion posted on Instagram. “It honestly scared me.”
