More than 1,000 Inter Miami CF fans used special Tri-Rail trains to get home after the team’s first match at its new home, Miami Freedom Park, last Saturday.

The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) said Monday that it added two extra trains to meet high demand after the match ended around 10 p.m.

Tri-Rail ran special postgame service from the Miami Airport Station.

The first four-car train reached capacity just 20 minutes after the match ended, carrying 533 passengers and departing around 10:30 p.m.

A second four-car train left at 11 p.m. with another 520 passengers.

In total, Tri-Rail recorded more than 9,000 trips that day, making it the eighth-busiest Saturday in the system’s history.

“We have an amazing opportunity to offer fans a way to get to soccer matches without the hassle of traffic or high parking costs,” said Diane Hernandez Del Calvo, SFRTA interim executive director.

Tri-Rail plans to continue special service for Inter Miami matches

Inter Miami CF is playing its home matches this season at Nu Stadium, inside Miami Freedom Park, a short distance from the Tri-Rail station at the Miami Intermodal Center.

With 16 more home matches scheduled this year, the SFRTA said it plans to continue the special train service to accommodate the expected rise in ridership during the 2026 MLS season.

The next match is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m., and Tri-Rail expects to dispatch trains about 45 minutes after the final whistle.

How much does Tri-Rail cost for fans?

To make it easier for fans, Tri-Rail said weekend riders can purchase a $5 Day Pass with unlimited rides.

On weekdays, round-trip fares range from $5 to $17.50, depending on distance.

The agency also recommends that fans plan ahead and check schedules before traveling.
