Motorcyclist killed on Florida’s Turnpike, Highway Patrol says

A man died after crashing his motorcycle on Florida’s Turnpike near Cutler Bay Monday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The man, who has not been named, was driving his Suzuki motorcycle north on the turnpike around mile marker 12 shortly before 4:30 a.m. when he ran into the back of a Nissan sedan, the FHP said.

He fell off the motorcycle and died from his injuries, said Lt. Alejandro Camacho, an FHP spokesman.

The northbound lanes were closed, but have since reopened, Camacho said. It was not immediately known if the driver of the Nissan was injured.
