A man has died after crashing into a tree late Friday night near Miami-Opa-locka Executive Airport, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.

At around 11:55 p.m., deputies responded to a crash on Northwest 135th Street and 57th Avenue.

Deputies say a car crashed into a tree and went up in flames. The driver died. Details on what led to the crash were not immediately available.

At around 2:45 a.m. a deputy was injured when his car was struck while blocking the intersection, according to the sheriff’s office. A car ran through the intersection and struck the right side of the deputy’s car, causing damage. The deputy had minor injuries and was treated on scene.

The driver of the car was detained.
