Zoo Miami reopens Sunday after bomb threats closed it Friday and Saturday

Zoo Miami reopened Sunday after closing early on Friday and Saturday following bomb threats.

“In coordination with local law enforcement, additional protocols have been implemented out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the safety of our guests, staff and animals,” the Zoo Miami website said Sunday morning. “Guests may notice increased security presence, including K-9 units on site for screening and surveillance,”

Neither threat Friday or Saturday did any damage beyond creating a traffic clog leaving the parking lots and taking up the time of Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office personnel investigating each threat.

Zoo Miami closed Friday, March 13, 2026, after someone called in a bomb threat, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
