In the first eight months of deployment, school-zone speed cameras in Miami-Dade County led to more than 252,000 tickets for drivers, bringing in about $17 million, according to a new memo.

The county’s vendor, RedSpeed, currently has more than 120 camera locations across the county and is continuing to build out its network.

The Miami Herald is interested in hearing what the community thinks. Are the cameras effective in getting drivers to slow down near schools? Does Miami-Dade need more of them? Have you been ticketed by one of the cameras, and if so, what was your experience? Did you feel the ticket was justified?
