These South Florida babies will have New Year’s Day birthdays

Four South Florida babies will have the distinction of celebrating their birthdays on New Year’s Day.

Miami-Dade’s three biggest hospital systems, Jackson Health System, Baptist Health South Florida and HCA Florida, released the names of the first babies born after the clock struck midnight Thursday.

There was Sienna Muriel, who was born at Baptist’s South Miami Hospital at 12:41 a.m. She weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces, and was 19.6 inches long.

Proud parents are Kimberly and Nickolas Muriel.

At Jackson North Medical Center, Lucas Mateo came into the world at 1:36 a.m., weighing 8 pounds, 1 ounce.

Naomi D’Lani de la Cruz was born at Jackson Memorial Hospital in downtown Miami on Thursday morning, Jan. 1, 2026.

And, at Jackson Memorial Hospital in downtown Miami, Naomi D’Lani de la Cruz was born at 3:47 a.m. She weighed 5 pounds, 7 ounces.

Eden Skye Garrido was the first baby born at HCA Florida Mercy Hospital. She arrived at 12:14 a.m., weighing 7 pounds, 10 ounces.

This is the third baby for parents Megan and Ari Garrido, who have been married for nine years, according to HCA Florida.

“Happy, exhausted, and excited,” the couple said in a statement provided by HCA Florida.
