A man in a wheelchair was struck by a driver and killed in Florida City early Thursday morning, according to police.
The man was hit around 4:40 a.m. in the 800 block of North Krome Avenue and pronounced dead by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. The driver who struck the man, whom Florida City police described as “elderly,” remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The investigation has been turned over to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Bureau. Police have not released the name of the man who was killed nor the driver.
