A woman was hospitalized after a Brightline train clipped the back of her car in Northeast Miami-Dade on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to reports of a train crash at the railroad crossing at Miami Gardens Drive and Northeast 26th Avenue.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue paramedics took the woman to a local hospital in stable condition. Authorities have not identified the woman.

An investigation by the Miami Herald and WLRN showed that Brightline is the deadliest major passenger railroad in the United States. There have been 187 deaths involving Brightline trains in Florida since the train began test runs in the state in 2017. Of those, 161 deaths occurred in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
