Girl Scouts cookies are rolling out a new flavor this year. Get a sneak preview
For the first time in three years, Girl Scout cookies are introducing a new flavor.
Exploremores, a rocky road ice cream–inspired sandwich cookie, joins the lineup for the 2026 Girl Scout Cookie season.
We got an early taste of the Exploremores, four months ahead of their South Florida debut.
Here’s what to expect:
What does the new cookie taste like?
Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida, the troop that serves Miami-Dade and the Florida Keys, hand-delivered a box of Exploremores to the Miami Herald on Tuesday for a preview and taste test.
What are they like?
They’re a crunchy meld of marshmallow and chocolate flavors mingling with toasted almond–flavored crème.
The verdict on Exploremores?
Nothing has been able to dethrone our beloved chocolate and peanut butter Tagalongs or the ever popular chocolate and coconut festooned Samoas. And we know people who down Thin Mints by the box, sometimes in one sitting.
And the new Exploremores? They’ll have you eating them in bunches as well.
Cookies come and go
The last new cookie flavor introduced by the Girl Scouts was the Raspberry Rally in 2023. Cookie lovers could buy it only online. But the tart treat didn’t survive for long as it was retired after a sole season. That’s the way the cookie crumbles.
In 2022, the Girl Scouts introduced the brownie-inspired Adventurefuls with its sweet and savory tango of caramel and sea salt. In 2020, the Scouts brought out the tart Lemon-Ups.
While those remain in the nine-variety roster for 2026, two made their final appearances earlier this year — the Girl Scout S’mores and Toast-Yay! cookies.
Thin Mints, Samoas and Tagalongs return as favorites.
“Girl Scouts periodically retires cookie varieties to make room for fresh, exciting additions that reflect the evolving tastes and spirit of the program,” said Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida CEO Chelsea Wilkerson.
“With fan favorites like S’mores and Toast-Yay! stepping aside after the 2025 season, this year’s launch of Exploremores — a rocky road–inspired sandwich cookie — continues our tradition of innovation and celebrates the adventurous heart of Girl Scouting,” she said.. “It’s also a key part of our entrepreneurship program, giving Girl Scouts new ways to flex their business skills, spark customer interest, and build confidence through hands-on experience.”

Why there’s a cookie season
Ever wonder why Girl Scout Cookies season is traditionally in January and February and not during the school break summer?
A Girl Scout insider told us.
Can you imagine what chocolate-covered cookies would look like when you get them home after the boxes have broiled in the Florida sun on an August afternoon?
