South Florida airports report delays, cancellations from flight control problem
Flights affected by air traffic control technical issues in the Washington, D.C., and New York City areas Saturday included some departing from South Florida.
Miami International Airport reported at least 10 cancellations, according to airport spokesman Marc Henderson. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport spokesman Gregory Meyer reported 106 delayed flights and four cancellations.
An automation problem at the Leesburg, Virginia, air traffic center was believed to be the cause of the issue which was resolved by late Saturday afternoon.
