Miami-Dade firefighters rescued a blind dog that had fallen into an abandoned septic tank at a construction site Thursday morning, the department said.

Construction workers at the site in the 6600 block of Northwest 27th Avenue heard the small elderly dog barking from inside the tank and called Fire Rescue around 9:15 a.m.

Firefighters conducted a “confined spaces rescue,” using a ladder to enter the tank and lifted the dog out, the department said in a press release.

The firefighters dried the dog off and gave it water before handing it over to Miami-Dade Animal Services, the department said.
