Miami-Dade deputies search for a masked suspect in an attempted child sex abuse case. The community is urged to provide any information to help locate him.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office is asking for the community's help in finding an intruder donning a ski mask who snuck into a 12-year-old girl’s bedroom and tried to sexually abuse her last week.

Sometime before 6:40 a.m. Friday, the suspect, believed to be between 15 and 19 years old, barged into her room wearing a white full face ski mask in the area of Northeast 208th Street and Northeast Fifth Place, the sheriff’s office said.

The pre-teen was asleep in her bed when she awoke to an “unknown male” trying to take her shorts off, deputies say. She hit him in the groin area and started screaming. He then jumped out of the bedroom window and fled.

Deputies say he was wearing a black long-sleeve shirt and gray light-colored pants, along with the ski mask. He’s between 5’11” and 6’0” with a thin build.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Deputy A. Huarte and Sgt. J. Valdivia at 305-715-3300.
