On Monday afternoon, detectives identified one of them, 58-year-old Aileen Cruz. The sheriff’s office did not release the cause of death, but dispatchers said on the police scanner Friday that one of the victims suffered a gunshot wound.
Detective Joseph Peguero Rivera, a sheriff’s office spokesman, said the other victim has not yet been identified.
The fire and the deaths are being investigated by sheriff’s office homicide and arson detectives, in addition to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, according to the sheriff’s office.
The agency said that the cause of death of both people is pending autopsy results from the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner.
