A Miami chess teacher who’s been teaching children for more than 30 years was allegedly caught touching a six-year-old boy inappropriately during one of his classes, deputies said. He was cuffed Tuesday.

Christopher Stormont, 50, started teaching chess in 1991. Now, he has his own private business, The Stormont Kings — where he holds classes, tournaments, family game nights and camps, according to his website.

On Tuesday, a 6-year-old student told his mother after class that Stormont had touched his lower parts over his clothing, an arrest report read. She immediately alerted law enforcement.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies quickly descended on Stormont’s chess center and arrested him. Authorities said he later gave a “self-serving statement.” It’s not clear what that means.

As of Thursday night, Stormont still remained in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He’s facing a charge of lewd and lascivious molestation on a child.
