Escaping her estranged husband far off in Arizona, a homeless woman thought her luck was turning when a random man pulled up to a Hialeah bus stop where she was perched. Introducing himself as “El Burro,” he promised a shower and a place of rest — what she received was a nightmarish evening enduring kidnapping and sexual assault, police said.

The unidentified woman survived that August night under the clutches of Yunior Pulido, 40. It took 11 months for her attacker to answer for his alleged crimes, although she alerted police within days of the assault, records show. On Monday, officers cuffed Pulido.

On Sept. 2, Hialeah police officers met the woman on West Okeechobee Road who called 911 and told the dispatcher she’d been sexually assaulted and her rectum was bleeding, an arrest report read. She recounted her harrowing experience to officers that’d taken place just two days prior.

She was sitting at a bus stop just a few blocks away from where she was speaking to the officers. Pulido, who at the time had only introduced himself as “Yunior” and “El Burro,” picked her up in his dark blue, late-model Ford pickup truck and drove her to a motel after claiming he wanted to help her, the report read.

She walked into the motel room with him in tow, which she allowed as he claimed to be helping with her stuff. Once they were both inside, he pushed her onto the bed, locked the door and “made sexually threatening statements.”

He then sexually assaulted her several times, the report read. Pulido also forced her to ingest crystal meth.

After the attack, he forced her into his truck, grabbing her by the waist, and warned her that if she screamed, she would see what would happen. He drove her to his home in a trailer park community and continued to sexually assault her, the report read.

Sometime during the sexual abuse, he stuffed a cloth in her mouth and restrained her to the bed. When he eventually fell asleep, she escaped.

The woman was treated at a hospital where staff confirmed to police she had significant injuries consistent with sexual assault. She was given a rape kit examination, the results of which were received by authorities on April 30.

After the test results, a photo of Pulido from the woman and confirmation that the truck he drove was the same she remembered, police arrested him. He is facing charges of sexual battery, kidnapping, false imprisonment and battery.

As of Tuesday, Pulido remained in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He also submitted a plea of not guilty, according to records.

In 2010, Pulido was arrested for domestic battery in Lee County, but that case was not prosecuted and the charge was dropped, court records show.
