Miami-Dade’s Government Center back to normal after package investigation

Metrorail, Metromover, Miami-Dade’s Government Center and the surrounding area are back to normal after investigation of a package interrupted mass transit and caused the building to be evacuated.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said it learned of the package at Stephen P. Clark Government Center, 111 NW First St., around 9:20 Monday morning. While the agency’s bomb squad checked out the package, both Metromover and Metrorail service stopped, although Metrorail resumed around 10:45 a.m. without trains going into Government Center.

MDSO said the bomb squad found the package wasn’t a threat. The transit systems resumed full service by 11:20 a.m.
