A parental abduction that triggered an Amber Alert Thursday night has been canceled, Miami police said Friday morning. Authorities confirmed that both the 6-year-old boy and his mother have been found safe.

The alert was issued after Ismari Figueroa Leon, 34, was accused of abducting her son, Ryan Figueroa, from the Little Havana neighborhood.

Jail records show Figueroa is charged with interference with custody by a parent. She is jailed at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $2,500 bond.

Police say that Figueroa had a scheduled visitation with her son at the Family Resource Center of South Florida at 1393 SW First St.

A visitation specialist assigned to Figueroa and her son’s case told officers that Figueroa had never missed a visitation and never tried to take her son before Thursday, authorities said in her arrest report.

A witness told police that she saw Figueroa enter the building and approach her son, who ran to her and they “embraced,” police say.

This is when police say Figueroa picked up Ryan and exited the building before getting into her car and leaving.

Around 1:20 a.m. Figueroa called 911 and told the dispatcher, “Why am I on an Amber alert?” The dispatcher pinged her location and she was later arrested by the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office.
