Miami drivers will face changes to their highway routes Friday night through Monday morning. Construction work is shutting down several ramps to southbound Interstate 95.

What roads are affected and when?

The ramps to southbound I-95 from eastbound State Road 836 and westbound I-395 will be closed from 11 p.m. June 6 to 5:30 a.m. June 9.

A southbound lane on I-95 from Northwest 8th to 14th streets also will be closed during the time stretch.

Why are the ramps closing?

Crews will be connecting a new ramp from I-395 from Miami Beach to I-95 in Miami. The work is part of a rebuilding of the highway through the highly used corridor, which connects Miami Beach to downtown Miami to the airport area. The face of the project is a new downtown signature bridge.

What are the detours when the ramps close?

Eastbound 836 ramp to southbound I-95:

▪ Use the ramp to exit SB I-95 at Northwest Eighth Street.

▪ Continue south on Northwest Third Court to access the I-95 south ramp after Second Street.

Westbound I-395 ramp to southbound I-95:

▪ Go north on I-95, then exit at Northwest 62nd Street.

▪ Turn left at 62nd Street to use the southbound I-95 ramp

What’s the wide picture of the roadwork?

The construction work is part of a I-395/SR 836/I-95 redesign and rebuild that includes a signature bridge over Northeast Second Avenue and Biscayne Boulevard and the double-decking of 836 through the corridor.
