Miami-Dade deputies arrested Zachary Perez, 42, for repeatedly beating his 6-year-old stepson, dragging him with a dog collar, and causing serious injuries.

A Miami-Dade stepfather severely beat his 6-year-old son last week — and repeatedly used a dog collar to drag him around, deputies say.

From Thursday to Friday, Zachary Perez, 42, punched his son numerous times in the face, causing several bruises, an arrest report reveals. During these beatings, he placed a leash on the 6-year-old and yanked him around.

He would repeat the abuse multiple times over the course of the two days.

Apart from the punching and collar, Perez would kick the boy in the stomach. And in one instance, he beat the child with a tree branch, causing an abrasion.

Deputies arrested Perez on Saturday and took him to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. As of Tuesday, he was still locked up.

He has since entered a not guilty plea.
