An important service is now available for Miami drivers at several Publix supermarkets for the first time.

New self-serve kiosks are coming as part of the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s Office’s efforts to improve the taxpayer experience for essential transactions.

The new self-service kiosks at Publix will allow Miami residents to renew and print their vehicle registration and auto tags, the tax collector’s office announced Monday.

These services are available at locations in Miami, Miami Beach, Doral and Homestead, allowing residents to take care of their renewals in minutes.

The initiative was designed to provide essential government services in convenient, high-traffic locations so residents can renew and print their registration and tags at their convenience.

“Our responsibility is to make government more accessible, efficient, and responsive to the needs of our residents,” said Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez.

What do you need to renew your registration at Publix?

According to the tax collector’s office, customers will need the PIN code from their registration renewal notice or their license plate number, along with the registered owner’s date of birth information.

Customers must use a credit card to complete the transaction, and the process should take two minutes or less.

The kiosks will not process renewals with pending suspensions, toll violations, or special requirements.

Florida Vehicle Registration and Renewal

According to Florida law, a vehicle must have a valid registration to operate on the state’s roads. A complete registration requires the following:

A metal license plate (the plate number must match the number on the license plate and decal) attached to the vehicle in the designated area.

A registration certificate in the possession of the driver of the motor vehicle or in the vehicle at all times.

The auto tag, which is provided on the vehicle registration document and must be affixed to the square in the upper right corner of the Florida license plate.

Drivers can renew a registration for one or two years, depending on the kind of registration. Renewals are allowed up to three months before the registration expires.

Vehicle registrations expire at midnight on the owner’s date of birth, unless the vehicle is owned by a company. Additional information can be found on the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) websites.

To renew a registration using the mobile app, the customer must provide the license plate or vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle they wish to register. If the department cannot electronically verify valid vehicle insurance, it will not issue a registration on the mobile app.
