Miami man assaults woman at gunpoint and his sister helps police make arrest: deputies
A 66-year-old woman was ambushed in her home and sexually assaulted by a Miami man holding her at gunpoint Wednesday, authorities said. The man’s sister aided deputies in arresting him.
Around 2 p.m., the woman, who was not identified, stepped out of her home to tend to her garden, according to an arrest report. She remembered locking her front door before starting her gardening.
After getting dirty from the planting, she went inside to take a shower. While undressed and going into her bathroom, she was ambushed by Larry James Grant-Rogers, 25, who she said “appeared out of nowhere,” the report read.
He had a black pistol as he grabbed her from behind. While sometimes pointing the gun in her face, he tried to force himself on her, but she resisted, screaming that she was sick and pleading for him to stop.
Grant-Rogers dragged her to a bedroom where he sexually assaulted her, the report read. He then tied her hands and feet and moved her to the bathroom.
He called his sister to pick him up. It is unclear if she knew what had occurred prior to the call. The sister, who was not identified, promptly called the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office and told them her brother had entered a home.
Deputies sped over, arrested Grant-Rogers and found the woman, who told them she had been sexually assaulted at gunpoint, the report read.
As of Friday, Grant-Rogers still remained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on charges of armed sexual battery, aggravated battery and armed burglary.
