Nicholas James Sonet, a 27-year-old Miami man, was charged with having dozens of child sexual abuse material, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said.

A Miami man downloaded and distributed several videos of child pornography showing the rape of numerous young girls, from infants to 9 year olds, deputies said. He also vocalized his want to impregnate a 13-year-old and adopt a little girl for nefarious reasons.

Nicholas James Sonet, 27, was put in cuffs Thursday after more than a year-long investigation. He’s facing 15 counts of possession of sexual performance by a child and two counts of attempting to promote sexual performance by a child, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said.

The sheriff’s office received two cybertips on Sept. 11 and Oct. 10 from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children, alerting authorities that a person had child sexual abuse material.

Initially, detectives found Sonet sent a video of a girl between 2 and 4 years old being sexually abused as well as a video of a girl under 5 years old being raped, an arrest report read.

Authorities executed a search warrant at Sonet’s home and found even more child pornography — 14 videos depicting child rape involving little girls from infancy to about 9 years old.

When detectives went through his phone, they found he had several chats about his “desire” to adopt a little girl for “his sexual desires,” the report read. He went on to say he wished to “impregnate who he believed to be a 13-year-old [girl].”

Within his phone were hundreds of other media files that showed child pornography. Other devices were seized but not checked.

As of Friday, Sonet remains in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $35,000 bond.
