FDOT reopens part of Dolphin Expressway after brief closure to inspect overhead bridge
The Florida Department of Transportation on Wednesday reopened parts of the Dolphin Expressway after closing the highway to conduct inspections of an overhead bridge.
The closures affect the eastbound lanes starting at NW 17th Avenue on the expressway, State Road 836, just west of Interstate-95, FDOT said in an alert.
“Motorists are urged to use alternative routes and allow for extra time for travel during this period,” the agency wrote.
Detour signs will be posted along the impacted areas, according to FDOT.
FDOT issued the following directions for drivers who need to use the route:
Drivers should take the exit at NW 17th Avenue and continue south across NW Seventh Street, before turning left at SW First Street and continuing east. Then, they should turn right at South Miami Avenue before turning right to access I-95 north or south.
Drivers going onto Biscayne Boulevard and the MacArthur Causeway can continue east on SW First Street, turn left on Biscayne Boulevard to connect with the MacArthur Causeway entrance ramp at NE 11th Terrace.
Drivers on NW 12th Avenue who want to access the eastbound DR 836, I-95, Biscayne Boulevard and MacArthur Causway can continue south on NW 12th Avenue, turn left at SW First Street and follow the detour signs.
