Driver in custody after skateboarder killed in hit-and-run crash in Northwest Miami-Dade

A teen skateboarding in Northwest Miami-Dade Monday night was killed when a blue Hyundai Sonata slammed into him and then took off, according to Miami-Dade police.

Cash Pereira, 16, was on Northwest 12th Avenue at 108th Street at about 9 p.m. when the car, heading north on Northwest 12th Avenue, hit him, police said Tuesday morning.

The car, a 2007 Hyundai , was located at 1268 NW 111th St., said Miami-Dade police spokesman Alvaro Zabaleta.

The 28-year-old driver,  Gabriel Fleuricourt, turned himself in to Miami police and gave the location of the car, Zabaleta said. He was charged and taken to Miami-Dade County Jail.
