Motorcyclist critically injured in crash on Biscayne Blvd.

A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital in critical condition after a violent crash on Biscayne Boulevard Monday evening, according to Miami police.

The accident, which involved the motorcycle and a silver Volkswagen sedan, happened at about 7 p.m. on Biscayne Boulevard and 39th Street.

Police spokesman Rene Pimentel said the northbound lanes of Biscayne Boulevard were shut down because of the crash.

It was not clear Monday night what caused the crash or if there were other injures.

The motorcyclist was rushed to Ryder Trauma Center.
