A 5-year-old boy was seriously injured after falling from a fourth-floor window of a Little Havana apartment complex on Thursday evening, according to the Miami Police Department.

The child fell around 5:30 p.m. at 1245 NW Second St. and was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital with liver and lung injuries, police spokesman Michael Vega said. He said he was unsure how the boy landed or whether it was on concrete or grass.

Police are investigating but no criminal charges have been filed thus far, Vega said.

The boy is in stable condition and was still hospitalized for observation as of Friday morning, Vega said.
