An early-morning shooting in Liberty City on New Year’s Eve has left one man dead, according to police.

At around 5:40 a.m., Miami Police responded to Northwest 10th Avenue and 47th Street to investigate a shooting. They found a man shot and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say they will not release his identity until his family is told.

Details on what led up to the shooting were not immediately available.

When asked if foul play was suspected, Miami Police spokeswoman Kiara Delva said she could not confirm or deny.

“It’s an ongoing investigation so detectives will not rule anything out,” Delva said in an email to the Herald.
