Police have nabbed two young adults in connection to a 15-year-old boy fatally shot after an argument broke out Sunday in South Miami, authorities say.

Javari Omarion Jones, 19, and Quinton Lenard Mayo Jr., 18, are not facing murder charges but were arrested for going on a police chase from the area where 15-year-old Nolan King was killed. It’s unclear if or when their charges will be upgraded.

Around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, South Miami police were alerted to a shooting by multiple 911 callers at 5994 SW 64th St., police said. Officers found King suffering from gunshot wounds and he was rushed to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital — where he later died.

While officers were going to the scene, they spotted a white Nissan Maxima that was said to be speeding away from the area — a police chase ensued. After being caught in traffic, the occupants, Jones and Mayo, jumped out and ran away.

Officers quickly caught up with the pair and arrested them. Jones is facing charges of fleeing police at a high speed and resisting an officer without violence. Mayo is facing a charge of resisting without violence.
