‘A very tragic loss’: Body of woman found near I-95 in Miami-Dade County identified
Police have named the woman whose body was found Saturday morning on the entrance ramp of I-95 near Ives Dairy Road and have detained a man in connection to her killing, officials said Monday.
Miami-Dade Police identifed the woman as Nahomi Valentina Cittadini, 22, of Miami Beach.
“Nahomi was taken from her family way too soon,” said Cittadini’s friend Jennifer Rudnick in a Facebook post where she shared a GoFundMe for Cittadini’s family. “Her family is grieving a very tragic loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.”
Authorities received several calls around 6 a.m. Saturday morning about two people arguing in the area where Cittadini’s body was found, according to Miami-Dade Police Det. Luis Sierra said.
Florida Highway Patrol responded and found Cittadini’s body on the side of the road. Her death came weeks before her 23rd birthday on Dec. 29.
MDPD’s homicide detectives are working with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office to investigate.
Miami-Dade Police said Lorent Pion Jr. is a person of interest in the case, though no formal charges have been filed. He is in the custody of Miramar Police for separate charges.
Pion, 29, has several felony convictions in Broward County on charges including cocaine possession, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, aggravated fleeing and eluding from police and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, according to court records.
Miramar police on Saturday arrested Pion on felony charges of aggravated fleeing from police with injury and failure to stop for police, according to Broward County court records. Details of that incident were not immediately available.
As of Monday, he was being held in Broward County jail on a total bond of $15,000 related to that arrest.
He also has had 14 Florida traffic citations since his release from jail in September 2019.
