One person has been hospitalized and a dog has died after a fire broke out in a Northwest Miami-Dade home early Wednesday morning, according to authorities.

At about 8:20 a.m., eight Miami Dade Fire Rescue units responded to NW 14th Ave and NW 77th Terrace to put out the blaze.

Rescue teams took one adult to Jackson Memorial Ryder Trauma Center as a trauma alert. Firefighters also pulled three dogs out of the home and performed CPR, but one of the dogs died.

MDFR says the Red Cross has been requested to assist the resident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
