That green liquid gushing from a Miami International Airport ceiling Thursday morning turns out to be...water.

That’s according to an email to the Miami Herald from Miami-Dade Aviation Department Communications Director Greg Chin about the green stuff seen in a video posted to OnlyInDade’s X and Instagram accounts. The video showed green liquid coming out of the ceiling and covering the floor in one gate seating area.

Chin said this was gate G7 in Concourse G, used by Southwest, Spirit, Bahamasair, WestJet and Porter Airlines.

What came out around 9 a.m. was “water from the A/C system with a green dye in it, so that if there is ever a leak it can traced to its source,” the email said.

The water was cleaned up by 10:30 a.m.
