Northbound traffic in southwest Miami-Dade County came to almost a standstill during the Friday evening rush hour due to an overturned fuel tanker truck just north of Kendall Drive, according to firefighters.

The truck went over around 5:20 p.m., according to emergency dispatch records.

A firefighter working at Miami-Dade Fire Rescue dispatch said there were minor injuries, but no one was taken to the hospital.

The scene is a mess though, with fuel spilling from the truck’s saddle tanks and some residual fuel from the tank the truck was trailing on the highway, according to the department.

The Florida Department of Transportation said in a statement issued at 6 p.m. that all northbound lanes in the area, as well as the Exit 20 on-ramp were closed.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
