Miami-Dade police officers responding to a robbery call found a body inside a home in Northwest Miami-Dade on Thursday morning, according to police.

The discovery came at about 10 a.m. inside a home at 10939 NW First Lane, just north of Sweetwater.

According to Miami-Dade police Det. Daniel Ferrin, officers “forced entry” when they arrived because “there was no response.”

“Once inside, the officers confirmed that there was a deceased person,” Ferrin said.

Not knowing if there was still a subject inside, officers called for the Special Response Team, Ferrin said.

Once officers determined there was no one else inside, detectives responded to investigate.

Neighbors told Miami Herald news partner CBS4 that they heard a loud boom.

“I heard gunshots while I was playing on my Xbox,” 12-year-old Christopher Ojeda told the station. “I went outside my home and saw police swarming in.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
