Publix open for a Thanksgiving emergency run? Need a bus? Here are Miami holiday hours

We spend Thanksgiving Day around loved ones, showing our gratitude for our blessings by consuming food and football from Detroit and Dallas.

That doesn’t mean somebody won’t mess up the stuffing, forget the pie or suddenly need that prescription they meant to get filled last week.

So here’s a rundown of what’s open, what’s closed, what’s running and what’s not in the Miami and Fort Lauderdale areas on Thanksgiving Day and Friday.

Supermarkets

Note: Grocery stores are open regular hours on Friday. Below are their Thanksgiving Day hours:

Publix: Closed Thanksgiving Day.

Winn-Dixie and Fresco y Mas: Closed Thanksgiving Day.

Sedano’s: Stores will close at normal time on Wednesday, then be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

Presidente: Open, but check your preferred location for hours. Some stores will open at 7 a.m.

Milam’s Market: Open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

Aldi: Stores closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Price Choice Supermarkets: Open, but check your location of choice for hours.

The Fresh Market: Open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. (The hours on Fresh Market’s website for Wednesday and Thursday, as of 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, were confirmed by a Fresh Market spokesperson to be incorrect.)

Whole Foods Market: Stores will close at 10 p.m. or 11 p.m. on Wednesday. Most stores open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

Trader Joe’s: All stores closed.

Family Dollar: Most stores open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Big box retailers

Walmart/Sam’s Club: Closed Thanksgiving Day; most locations reopen Friday at 6 a.m. This includes the Walmart supermarkets.

Target: Closed Thanksgiving Day; most locations reopen Friday at 6 a.m.

Costco: Closed Thanksgiving Day; most locations reopen Friday at 9 a.m.

BJ’s Warehouse: Closed Thanksgiving Day; most locations reopen Friday at 7 a.m.

Pharmacy chains

Walgreens: The locations that are usually open 24 hours likely will be open. Other locations may not be. Expect the pharmacies to be closed.

CVS/Navarro: Expect regular hours at CVS and Navarro locations. Most CVS pharmacies will be open. Navarro pharmacies won’t be open.

Shopping malls

Aventura Mall: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Open Black Friday at 8 a.m.

Brickell City Centre: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Open Black Friday at 10 a.m.

Broward Mall: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Open Black Friday at 9 a.m.

Coral Square Mall: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Open Black Friday at 6 a.m.

Dadeland Mall: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Open Black Friday at 6 a.m.

Dolphin Mall: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Open Black Friday at 8 a.m.

The Falls: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Open Black Friday at 7 a.m.

Florida Keys Outlet Marketplace: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Open Black Friday at 6 a.m.

Galleria Fort Lauderdale: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Open Black Friday at 10 a.m.

Miami International Mall: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Open Black Friday at 6 a.m. Get there before 8 a.m. and you might get complimentary treats, coffee and, possibly, five-minute massages.

Palms at Town & Country: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Open Black Friday by 10 a.m.

Pembroke Lakes Mall: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Open Black Friday at 9 a.m.

Sawgrass Mills: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Open Black Friday at 6 a.m.

Shops at Merrick Park: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Open Black Friday at 9 a.m.

Westland Mall: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Open Black Friday at 8 a.m.

Mass transit

Miami-Dade: Metromover, Metrorail and Metrobus will run on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Day and be back to a normal weekday schedule on Friday. Special Transportation Services will run on a normal schedule. Call 305-871-1111 to make reservations or changes to reservations for an STS run. All offices, including customer service offices, will be closed.

Broward: For Thanksgiving Day, Broward County Transit will run on a Sunday/holiday schedule and Friday will be a normal Friday. If you need help with fixed or paratransit routes, call 954-357-8400 (TTY 954-357-8302) from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Customer service staff will be at the Broward Main Terminal, 101 NW First Ave., in Fort Lauderdale and the Lauderhill Transit Center, 1359 NW 40th Ave., from 8:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Thursday.

Tri-Rail: Tri-Rail will run on its weekend schedule on Thanksgiving Day and its normal schedule on Friday.

Garbage

Miami: Normal pickup for trash and recycling on Thanksgiving Day and Friday.

Regularly scheduled City of Miami garbage pickup will happen on Thanksgiving Day and Friday.

Miami-Dade: Normal pickup for trash and recycling pickup and normal hours for Neighborhood Trash and Recycling Centers on Thanksgiving Day and Friday.

Fort Lauderdale: Normal pickup for trash and recycling on Thanksgiving Day and Friday.

Broward: No garbage or recycling pickup on Thanksgiving day. Regular pickup routes on Friday.

Note: If you’re not served by one of the municipal or county services above, check with your garbage pickup provider or municipality.

U.S. Postal Service

You won’t get mail or be able to visit post office branches on Thanksgiving Day. Everything is back to normal on Friday.

Courts, county offices, schools

Miami-Dade: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Broward: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Banks, stock and bond markets

The New York Stock Exchange, NASDAQ and your bank branches will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. The New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ close at 1 p.m. on Friday. Many bank branches will be open on Friday.

Your bank branch likely will be open again on Friday. ATMs are open every day, 24 hours a day, but don’t expect customer service help on Thursday.

Libraries

Miami-Dade: All branches closed all four days of the Thanksgiving weekend. Online content can still be accessed.

Broward: All branches will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday. The online catalog will still be available.
