Two teenagers were shot and wounded on the streets of the Little River neighborhood in Miami early Friday morning, police said.

Officers arrived at 163 NW 70th St. shortly before 2 a.m. after receiving reports of shots fired in the area, police spokesman Officer Michael Vega said in a statement.

One of the wounded, a 17-year-old boy, was later arrested after police said they determined he was with a group of people who stole chips from a convenience store and then stole items from a car.

That incident led to the shooting, according to police.

Shots were fired after the occupants of the car confronted the teen and his friends about the stolen property, according to an arrest report.

A friend opened fire, shooting randomly, hitting the teen in the leg and an 18-year-old man, the car occupant, in the arm, according to the report.

The Miami Herald is not naming the 17-year-old because of his age.

Miami Fire Rescue paramedics took him to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. He was released later in the day, and police arrested him on an armed robbery charge

The 18-year old man, who was not named in the report, was taken to a hospital by a family member, Vega said.
