Why the police bomb squad shut down a section of Miami International Airport
A section of Miami International Airport was evacuated Friday to focus on two suspicious packages.
Miami-Dade police say they shut down the area of Gates 1-22 in Terminal D just after 8 a.m., said police spokesman Detective Angel Rodriguez. He said the all-clear was given after 10 a.m. Friday morning and operations would soon be returning to normal.
Airport police K-9s alerted human officers to the two suspicious boxes. The bomb squad was then called in to do a sweep.
