Pregnant woman robbed in front of Southwest Miami-Dade home

Karla Barrientos was unloading groceries from the back of her SUV in front of her Southwest Miami-Dade home when a silver 4-door sedan pulled up alongside.

An armed man wearing a mask got out of the car and said, “Señora deme su cartera (Ma’am give me your purse),” according to Miami-Dade Police Department, which released surveillance video of the May 29 incident Monday.

Barrientos, 39, who was five months pregnant, tried to run, but another man approached her, grabbing her from behind.

The second man snatched Barrientos’ purse and pushed her onto the hood of the car, sending her falling to the ground.

As soon as both men got into the car, the driver took off from the home at 15309 SW 69th Lane.

Police say the men stole the Barrientos’ purse, which contained approximately $3,000 in cash. Barrientos was not seriously injured in the robbery.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
