Freak accident: Motorcyclist dives off overpass to avoid accident on I-95
A motorcyclist trying to dodge a fast-approaching car on Interstate 95 tumbled off an overpass Saturday near Miami Shores, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Around 3:30 p.m., a sedan hit the motorcyclist who was driving on the shoulder of I-95, FHP said.
Troopers say the unidentified driver jumped off the bike attempting to avoid the collision and subsequently fell off the overpass — landing on Northwest 103rd Street below.
The driver was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition, troopers said.
The driver who struck the motorcyclist stayed at the scene and spoke with authorities. It’s unclear if the driver will face charges as an investigation continues.
Witnesses told Local 10 News that it was a “nasty fall” and bloody scene.
