Watch Miami-Dade District 2 candidates in forum moderated by Herald’s Jacqueline Charles

The six candidates for the District 2 seat on the Miami-Dade County Commission are scheduled to appear Thursday, July 28, in a Miami Foundation forum moderated by Jacqueline Charles, Caribbean/Haiti correspondent for the Miami Herald.

A video stream of the forum can be watched in a link below. The event begins at 7 p.m.

The election is Aug. 23, and a runoff in November will follow between the two top finishers if no candidate gets more than 50% of the vote.

Jean Monestime, the incumbent District 2 commissioner, is term-limited and will leave office in November.

The six candidates running to succeed him are:

Wallace Aristide, a high school principal; Monique Barely-Mayo, a business consultant who ran for Miami-Dade mayor in 2020; Marleine Bastien, a non-profit executive; Philippe Bien-Aime, the mayor of North Miami; Joe Celestin, a former mayor of North Miami; and William Clark, a retired paramedic.
