Miami Mayor Suarez received $20,000 Heat tickets as gift from this entrepreneur
Miami Mayor Francis Suarez received two tickets, valued at $20,000, to a Heat game in March from Key Biscayne businessman Sean Wolfington, public financial disclosure documents this week show.
Questions arose in May about how Suarez scored an expensive courtside seat during the Miami Heat’s playoff run this year. These documents don’t cover that time period.
According to a gift disclosure form filed this week by the mayor, Suarez received two tickets, valued at $20,000, to a Heat game in March from Wolfington, a tech entrepreneur, film producer and executive for online auto buying platform CarSaver, which is affiliated with Walmart.
Each ticket was valued at $10,000 for the Heat’s March 15 game against the Detroit Pistons. The Heat won that night.
The tickets were the only gifts disclosed on the form that covers the first quarter of 2022.
Suarez was seen cheering courtside next to Wolfington during a May 17 playoff game — an appearance the mayor refused to discuss with the Miami Herald. It is not publicly known how the mayor got the ticket to that game. If that ticket was a gift, the mayor is required by law to disclose it at the end of September.
The mayor’s office declined to respond to the Herald’s questions about the disclosure and the May ticket.
