Fatal crash in Southwest Miami-Dade leaves 84-year-old woman dead, officials say

A late-night crash in Southwest Miami-Dade left an 84-year-old woman dead Sunday, authorities said.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the unidentified woman— who was from in Port St. Lucie— was in a gray Lexus with three other people when a red Kia crashed into them near Krome Avenue and Southwest 245 Terrace at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Lexus was traveling northbound on Krome Avenue when officials say the driver in the Kia, which was going southbound, “attempted an evasive maneuver, turning to the left, resulting in the front right of the Lexus to collide with the front right of the Kia.”

“All occupants of [the Lexus] were transported to Jackson South,” FHP said in a statement. “The elder occupant was pronounced deceased at 12:37 a.m. at Jackson South Hospital.”

None of the drivers or occupants of either vehicles were identified Sunday.
