XXXTentacion affiliate Tankhead666 arrested in connection with fatal shooting in Miami
The man extradited from Ohio by police for his alleged involvement in a deadly Wynwood shooting last week is connected to XXXTentacion through his music collective, The Source, a top hip-hop magazine and other media outlets reported.
Lynwood Walker III, who goes by the stage name Tankhead666, is affiliated with the Plantation-born artist’s Members Only music collective. XXXTentacion was shot and killed in June 2018 while sitting in his black BMW i8 just outside a motorcycle shop in Broward County.
Walker was arrested Monday for his alleged part in the murder of Jose Jose, 28, killed last week just outside the popular gastropub Kush.
Last Friday afternoon, Jose and some friends headed for the restaurant at 2003 N. Miami Ave., looking for someone who worked there, according to multiple law-enforcement sources. When he stepped outside, the restaurant employee was beaten up, then shot by Walker, sources said.
In the scrum, a source said, the wounded worker managed to grab a gun that fell out of Jose’s bag, firing at Jose, who was killed. The confrontation was captured on Kush surveillance footage, the source said, and Walker’s distinct facial tattoos helped police identify him.
Walker is being charged with attempted murder for firing at the restaurant worker, and second-degree felony murder for his friend’s death. In Florida, anyone who commits certain violent felonies — in this case, the attack on the restaurant worker — can be held responsible for murder if the result is a death.
Walker spoke about his relationship with XXXTentacion in a January interview with VladTV. He called their bond a “brotherhood.” The rapper also considered himself a guardian of the of the slain artist.
“I would’ve died by him,” Walker said at the time. “Everybody know that.”
Walker has released numerous songs via SoundCloud under his Tankhead moniker. His most popular track, entitled “where ya glock at tank?,” has accumulated more than a quarter of a million streams. He was also featured on the 2019 project “XXXTENTACION Presents: Members Only, Vol. 4”
